How many, How much

As I sat drinking my morning coffee I decided, on a whim, to revisit the poems of Shel  Silverstein (A Light in the Attic to be precise). As I was reading along, one stuck out, How many, How much.

How many slams in an old screen door? Depends on how loud you shut it.

How many slices in a bread? Depends on how thin you cut it.

How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live ’em.

How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give ’em.

So simple yet so helpful. It’s easy to fall into a logical trap that we’re all alone or that the world is against us. But, perhaps, if we can change how we’re seeing things they can get better. Or rather, we can feel better about them, which sometimes makes all the difference.

Anyway, just some food for thought. Now I’m off to put some ‘good’ in this day.

Until next time
